Airport Wildlife Hazard Assessment
GWC specializes in providing biological surveys, habitat and population assessments, plus consultation for threatened and endangered species on private and public land. GWC provides consulting services for landowners, corporations and government agencies. For one Forest Service contract we surveyed for endangered species over 1.5 million acres.
GWC prepares biological surveys, monitoring, mitigation and management plans to NEPA and CEQA compliance, and conducts wildlife, fisheries, botanical, and stream surveys. GWC also prepares Wetland Delineations, Biological Assessments, Biological Evaluations, and Habitat Conservation Plans. GWC routinely conducts biological inventories and habitat assessments for rare, threatened, endangered or sensitive status species.
GWC is conducting marine mammal monitoring, hazing and eel grass surveys in the Crescent City harbor for a large marine development project.
Since 1989, our primary service has been helping clients ensure regulatory compliance for their projects, providing them with scientific expertise and effectively working with regulatory agencies. Galea Wildlife Consulting (GWC) functions as a liaison between clients and regulatory agencies, assisting with development and providing expert surveys and consultation on sensitive species issues. Our expertise spans a wide range of legal contexts including the California State and Federal Endangered Species Acts, Clean Water Act, California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and California Fish and Game Code. We assist clients with obtaining environmental permits for projects and as they move forward we monitor their progress to ensure they remain in compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
We routinely obtain 401, 404 permits from the U.S. Army Corp, 1600 permits from California Fish and Game and coastal development permits from the California Coastal Commission. We also provide such applicable services such as mitigations, monitoring, wetland delineation and restoration, and vegetative community assessment and restoration.
GWC has completed wildlife hazard assessment surveys and assessments for two regional airports in northern California. Wildlife Biologist Frank Galea has completed an Airport Wildlife Manager's Course and is trained in airport wildlife hazard service. GWC has also provided wildlife hazing services for the Crescent City Airport located in Del Norte County.
GWC designed and conducted a mountain goat population analysis using aerial surveys and provided consultation for wildlife/recreation conflicts in Skagway, Alaska, for the Temsco Helitours Company, from 2003 - 2007.
